ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The global COVID-19 pandemic has been widely regarded as a catalyst for adopting internet health care technology (IHT) in China. IHT consists of new health care technologies that are shaping health services and medical consultations. Health care professionals play a substantial role in the adoption of any IHT, but the consequences of doing so can often be challenging, particularly when employee burnout is prevalent. Few studies have explored whether employee burnout influences the adoption intention of IHT in health care professionals. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explain the determinants influencing the adoption of IHT from the perspective of health care professionals. To do so, the study extends the value-based adoption model (VAM) with consideration for employee burnout as a determining factor. METHODS: A cross-sectional web-based survey using a sample of 12,031 health care professionals selected through multistage cluster sampling from 3 provinces in mainland China was conducted. The hypotheses of our research model were developed based on the VAM and employee burnout theory. Structural equation modeling was then used to test the research hypotheses. RESULTS: The results indicate that perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and perceived complexity positively correlate with perceived value (ß=.131, P=.01; ß=.638, P<.001; ß=.198, P<.001, respectively). Perceived value had a positive direct effect on adoption intention (ß=.725, P<.001), perceived risk negatively correlated with perceived value (ß=-.083, P<.001), and perceived value negatively correlated with employee burnout (ß=-.308, P<.001). In addition, employee burnout was negatively related to adoption intention (ß=-.170, P<.001) and mediated the relationship between perceived value and adoption intention (ß=.052, P<.001). CONCLUSIONS: Perceived value, perceived enjoyment, and employee burnout were the most important determinants of IHT adoption intention by health care professionals. In addition, while employee burnout was negatively related to adoption intention, perceived value inhibited employee burnout. Therefore, this study finds that it is necessary to develop strategies to improve the perceived value and reduce employee burnout, which will benefit the promotion of the adoption intention of IHT in health care professionals. This study supports the use of the VAM and employee burnout in explaining health care professionals' adoption intention regarding IHT.

ABSTRACT

Agricultural retailers face serious challenge of losing consumers due to channel integration, it has become essential to provide an expected consistent and seamless omni-channel shopping experience in an omni-channel environment. Although previous literature has begun to focus on the consumer perspective of the omni-channel experience, little attention has been paid to the process of change from a single retail environment to omni-channel. By combining the research frameworks of unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and the value-based adoption model (VAM), this study aims to identify the drivers of omni-channel consumer purchase intention in agriculture products retail. This article conducts a questionnaire survey on 620 samples in China. The results show that single-channel shopping cost, reference groups, positive online reviews, and single-channel perceived risk have a significant positive impact on the omni-channel purchase intention of agricultural products, and perceived value plays a mediating role. Moreover, contextual factors partially have a negative moderating effect. When consumers purchase agricultural products, the more suitable the online shopping environment is, the weaker the influence of single-channel shopping costs, reference groups and positive online reviews on consumers' omni-channel purchase intention. These findings build on the existing literature on the omni-channel retail consumer experience and provide insights for fresh produce retailers to implement and evaluate an omni-channel integration strategy for agriculture products. The findings may shed lights on how to promote the healthy development of the omni-channel sales model of agricultural products.

ABSTRACT

The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has lately been utilized in a number of studies to investigate why people reject or adopt new technologies like mobile commerce or e-learning. However, several studies have found weaknesses in TAM’s ability to predict consumers’ purchase intention behavior. To compensate for TAM’s weaknesses, this study presents a model that integrates all of TAM’s components with the Value-Based Adoption Model (VAM). The perceived benefits and sacrifices were considered to provide a list of the implications for both researchers and e-learning service providers. Furthermore, the moderating role of e-word of mouth was utilized to examine the relationship between attitude, intention, perceived value, and intention toward e-learning, in order to match the current circumstances with the growing popularity of social networks. This study was conducted with a quantitative analysis by using data collected from survey 417 e-learning consumers. Except for perceived fee, which has a negative effect on perceived value, the results demonstrate that all hypotheses of latent correlations in TAM and VAM were strongly significant. Furthermore, attitude and perceived value have a significant role in determining consumer adoption of e-learning. Consumers’ perceived value will be driven by the high and low levels of the moderating influence of e-word of mouth, influencing their intention toward e-learning. Since e-learning is an effective sustainable education system, the result of this study can provide a good solution to facilitate e-learning in current and future conditions.
